This morning four of us met online in a Go To Meeting session. While discussing the business at hand most successfully we also learned about the technology out there that makes online meetings possible. I was so intrigued that I spent a good deal of time investigating other host sites that included video conferencing as well. I found one, iVisit, that offers that and document/desktop sharing for $50 a year but it is limited to 8 people per session. I'll keep looking.
The bottom line of our meeting is that training for secretaries and treasurers could easily be done online and take the travel component out of the equation. This would free up time at our district meetings for subjects that require more interpersonal communication, peer to peer subjects, etc.
We just scratched the surface this morning but I was able to see a small glimpse of the future of Rotary communications.
